John Batchelor and I welcomed back Dr. David Grinspoon to comment on the recent article suggesting Phobos, one of the Mars moons, might impact Mars in 50 million years. David was asked to tell us what such an impact or event would be like. David went into great details to describe what might happen should Phobos spiral in to the Martian surface. Both John and I asked him several "what if" types of questions so be sure to hear the entire Mars part of the program. For Venus, he was asked about the papers coming out talking about Venus and squishy lid tectonics which he explained in detail and compared to plate tectonics here on Earth. Dr Grinspoon also talked about the idea of life in the clouds of Venus given possible phosphene being there, then he went over the upcoming DaVinci mission to Venus as he is part of that effort. Before closing, he talked about the other mission underway for Venus and that we need new information as all our info is mostly based on Magellan which is several decades behind what the latest instrumentation can provide us.
