A Note To Friends And Listeners Of The Space Show

The Space Foundation Conference

Good Afternoon:

In keeping with my Open Line comments regarding my upcoming absence from the show due to pending knee surgery, this page is where I will keep you posted on my return to air.  Either Fremont John or I will post relevant updates on the blog. Should you want to communicate with me, do so on the blog and I will do my best to reply.  i sincerely hope my absence is a short one.

I am scheduled for knee repair surgery (torn meniscus) for the morning of the 19th.  Because of my living conditions, alone and in a two story house with a twisting stairway, I will most likely be sent to a rehab facility but that is not yet certain nor do I know how long my visit to rehab would last. I'm told they won't release me to a risky environment and having stairs and living alone is considered risky.  The stairs and living alone plus my age (if I hear that one more time I will jump to the Moon!) are what makes my living conditions termed risky.  To do the show, I need to get up the stairs which is where my studio is located plus I have to be off pain killers as I don't want to do a show being loopy or under the influence, though such shows might be highly entertaining. I am optimistic that I can start up again within two weeks but some of the factors are outside my control.  If they return me home post surgery with limited home care, as long as I can get up and down the stairs ok I good to start up again.

For those of you who did not hear the Open Lines show where I discussed this and more in detail, please listen.  While its a long program, just under two hours, the knee part is in the first 30 plus minutes of the program.  Here is the program link:  https://www.thespaceshow.com/show/15-jan-2023/broadcast-3979-open-lines.  I will have my cell phone with me at the hospital and a rehab center if sent to one.  I will not have computer access.

Thanks for your patience in understanding with my short term break from programming. I am looking forward to returning to the air with all of you on The Space Show as soon as possible.
