We welcomed Dr. Namrata Goswami back to the program to discuss national security space, China and its power goals which included all of their space plans, plus we took a partial deep dive into checking out the capability/quality of American leadership and response to China's forward movement and progress.  Other topics included Russia, Ukraine, India and their space program, a potential Pakistani thrust into space, Australia, and Israel's space program.  In addition, I believe its important to read The Space Review article penned by our guest on Jan. 23, 2023, "What the United States should do regarding space leadership?"  You can find her article at www.thespacereview.com/article/4517/1. While this article does touch on some of our discussion comments, it is a bit broader than our discussion so it certainly supports what was talked about on today's Space Show program.

As I have done with other recent Space Show programs, I would like to call your attention to the comprehensive Tags I used to describe and highlight topics talked about with Dr. Goswami.  For your convenience, the tags are repeated below. For the most part, their order follows our discussion timeline but we did jump around quite a bit in our discussion of China, its policy and quest for global leadership and power in which space is fundamental.  While we did do some compare and contrasting with China, Japan, India, Russia and the U.S., most of the comparisons were with U.S. space perspectives and our leadership.  Commercial space, cislunar space, commercial satellite constellations, investment and related topics were part of our program but in the context of how China moves forward in a type of completely different world pursuing its timelines and goals with an excellent track record of accomplishment.  Even in meeting deadlines.  Dr. Goswami did talk about how China maximizes its use of leadership and global power to advance its domestic and national goals, plus she provided ample evidence to show just how valuable space has become to China's overall domestic and national policy goals and aspirations. Namrata also talked about China's accomplishment record because when they set a goal and set out to do something, they typically achieve it.

Tags: Dr. Namrata Goswami, China's economic gains, economic gain timelines, comprehensive national power, China and technology, AI and robotic development, brief history timeline for Chinese national power, U.S. economic and power challenges to China, Russia, China and space, Chinese lunar policy, China's space goals, space the Chinese military, Ukraine, commercial satellite constellations, SpaceX, Starship, educating journalists about China, importance of understanding China's goals in space, broad picture showing more than just space concerns, dismissing China's space facts, 3D printing, China's goal evidenced accomplishments, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson on China and their lunar policy, South Sea Islands example, Taiwan, new evolving Russian-Chinese relationship, manipulation of the west, Iran, China's 2030 AI goal for space, reusable rockets in China, nuclear propulsion, Long March 9 development timeline, China and space based solar power, Pakistan and space, Israel as a space power with China, American leadership, America's China policy, Dr. Goswami's Jan. 16, 2023 Space Review article, democratizing space, rules for space, space norms and standards, cislunar development with China & the U.S., U.S. space leadership perspective compared to China's space perspective.

Dr. Goswami received several listener phone calls plus real time emails.  John from Fort Worth wanted to discuss the potential Chinese-Russian developing relationship regarding Ukraine.  Chad from NYC sent in an email about Iran and nuclear weapons while Bill from Miami inquired about Chinese AI in space.  Others sent in notes asking Namrata about China and nuclear propulsion for space. A listener even asked our guest about a possible Pakistani space program.  Robert from Atlanta asked a question about a possible China-Israeli joint space involvement.  Dr. Kothari called to engage Namrata in a Ukraine discussion regarding China, Russia and India. Don't miss this call as it was most informative plus it triggered a few blog comments. Earlier in the program, listener Todd sent in a note asking Namrata if she had ever considered running a China educational workshop to educate journalists about China so that their reporting would not only be accurate but considerably more relevant.  Unfortunately, such a needed class was not on the table (at least for now) by our guest.

During our 1 hour 38 minute program other topics came up and more was said about our leadership as compared to Chinese power leadership which she stressed most certainly included all space activities.  Please post your comments/questions on our blog for this show.
