Welcome to our Open Lines discussion.  We started by my announcing the recent passing of former Space Show guest and friend, Dr. William (Bill) R. Rowe.  Dr. Rowe, an internal medicine specialist with interests in cardiology, was also interested in human factors, studied the Apollo astronauts and their heart issues, plus genetics for long duration spaceflight.  Bill was a somewhat frequent guest on the show starting in early 2004.  He also attended space conferences where we met in person plus he met other Space Show listeners and guests.  For those interested, you can read his obituary here:     https://www.hillandwood.com/obituaries/William-J-Rowe?obId=25913173.

Other issues and concerns were discussed on this OL show.  We talked quite a bit about the Chat Box and AI, consciousness, voice chat and related topics.  Listeners also brought up the concern and issue relating to self-awareness.  Another topic that we spent time on was the banking crisis and how it might impact commercial space investing and space development. Also, the timelines for returning to the Moon and going on to Mars.

In talking about OGLF overhead, several listeners suggested it was no longer necessary to have the toll free line as most callers have a calling plan and do not need the toll free line. We started an experiment to call in on our third line rather than the toll free line. We will test this out over the next few weeks to see if we really need the toll free number.  If you have a thought about this, please post it on our blog.  Before ending today's Open Lines program, we talked about the upcoming programs and guests.

Please post your comments/questions on our blog.  Let me know if you would like to reach any of our callers or those having sent in emails.
