Dr. Greg Autry, Tuesday, 4-11-23, # 4012
Guest: Dr. Greg Autry; Topics: Dr. Autry made the case for both the use of nuclear power and the need for rational climate discussions. He supplied facts and details to make his case. We also talked economics, our challenges, possible solutions, space and the economy and much more.

We welcomed Dr. Greg Autry back to the program to stress the need for a rational climate change discussion, a focus on nuclear energy and power followed by space solar power plus in the latter part of the program we faced off against U.S. economic challenges in the context of space development. I would also like to call your attention to the two articles in Forbes that were mentioned on the show. Published on March 7, 2023, I suggest you read "Don't Panic! We can Have A Rational Conversation About The Climate" which is at www.forbes.com/sites/gregautry/2023/03/07/dont-panic-we-can-have-a-rational-conservation-about-the-climate/?sh=575e46f31239. In addition, I suggest you read Greg's review of the Dr. Zubrin new book on nukes, "The Case For Nukes." Greg's article, also published on Forbes, is titled "2023 Space Reading List:" The Case For Nukes." You find this review at www.forbes.com/sites/gregautry/2023/03/26/2023-space-reading-list-the-case-for-nuke/?sh=5cff09a511a4. Once again, following the above tags, repeated below, provide the best short summary for our discussion.

During our conversation, we had multiple callers wanting to talk with Greg about both nuclear, space solar and green energy plus later in the discussion, about our current economic conditions and how they might impact space development. Most but not all of the tags are listed in the order discussed but at times we went back and forth on energy issues and policy plus the economic conditions, especially for cislunar development and commercial space development in general.
Some commentary that stood out for me included Greg's comments on the environmental movements which he suggested were actually anti-environmental. This was driven by what he had to say about environmental activists and the Starship launch license process at Boca Chica. Here, he mentioned the 8,000 or so environmental issues raised by activists that did slow down the process though its not certain that Starship would have been ready to launch earlier. Greg and I agree with the sentiment that activists really did know how to work the system. I was very attentive to what Greg had to say about the use of nuclear power, the regulatory process, new reactors and using waste so that it was not a threat or a problem but that wase was still used as an argument against nuclear power. Nuclear power was also talked about for cislunar, lunar and Martian development along with propulsion. Don't miss all of this discussion. Don't hesitate to post your thoughts on our blog about energy as discussed by our guests.
Another part of the discussion that stood out from my perspective was when we were talking about both U.S. and global economics, the impact all of space, both government and the private sector. At one point during this discussion, I asked for his ideas on solving our economic problems. Also for the strength behind the idea that space was of such a strong national interest that it could be and should be an economic recovery sector. In addition, I liked the way Greg responded to questions about why folks in the media, academia and other fields want to promote that which they know to be false or damaging to the economy and the country, plus individuals. While nothing was answered in the black and white, Greg had some good ideas on the why's, especially with those teaching, advocating and promoting Marxist and Communistic economics, policies and ideologies'.
