See www.onegiantleapfoundation.org/amazon.htm. We started this Open Lines program with a call from Matt at Calnetix Tech (www.calnetix.com) on their new NASA magnetic bearing CO2 scrubber technology.  Lots has been written on this but here is one article to help explain it:  www.calnetix.com/newsroom/news-article/clearing-air-apollo-artemis-nasa-tests-magnetic-bearing-blower-space-station.  This was an interesting twenty plus minute conversation about the technology, alternative uses for it other than space, CO2 scrubber space history, Calnetix competition, and magnetic bearings.  Don't miss it.

The recent Starship demo test flight was a big topic on this program.  Lots of conversation about the launch technology, launch pad engineering, environmental issues including potential litigation against the FAA demanding a full EIR before Starship launches again.  In this context some listeners talked about the alternative launch site at KSC.  Caller Marshall called to say engineering was key to Starship launches and pad designs. Fremont John called on multiple new topics plus he shared some terrific blog comments and articles with us relevant to our current discussions and this specific Open Lines show.  At the end of his commentary he called our attention to two new space position docs from the Biden Administration which are detailed elsewhere in this summary.  Ft. Worth John brought up the issue that the SpaceX human lunar lander for Artemis which might suffer delays re Starship and FAA slowdowns. Some options to the SpaceX rover were mentioned.  New companies and their plans were mentioned including Argo Space Corporation and Relativity Space on 3 D printed rockets.  Space solar power was mentioned along with John Bucknell who will soon be returning as a guest to the program.  It was Fremont who called our attention to Biden's new planetary defense strategy and vision for the future LEO leadership.  Fremont posted info about these two documents on our blog.
