We welcomed back to the show Rick Tumlinson to discuss a variety of important program and topics with us.  Please use the Tags as a guide to the topics discussed on the show.  For your convenience, the Tagus have been repeated below this paragraph in this summary.  While the Tags do a great job of summarizing our discussion, the topic that stood out the most for me was later in the program when Rick was talking about the risks of pregnancy and procreation in LEO, microgravity, on the Moon or in free space before we know answers or at least have more information regarding the gravity RX as well as other basic science and medica research about pregnancy in space, fetal development, child birth, early child development and more.  At one point Rick suggested this was such a serious issue with such serious risks for a pregnancy or birth outcome in space that is problematic that it could stop the entire industry from moving forward.  He went on to talk about the type of R&D and science/medicine needed to safely, if possible, have procreation in space.  I've heard Rick make this case in other interviews and on other forums.  As you will see from some of the blog comments and probably from others hearing him on other formats, it was and is quite the controversial statement.  What do you think about the risks and consequences and would a bad pregnancy or birth outcome stop the industry?  Let us know your thoughts by posting them on the blog for this program.

Repeated Tags: Rick Tumlinson, DreamScopes program for middle school students, telescopes for changing kids lives, EarthLight Foundation, NSS telescopes, Celestron 127 SLT new telescopes, NY Space Business Roundtable presentation 11-15-23, changing society, commercial space, NewSpace, Starship holdups for demo launch, SLS concerns, Fish and Wildlife regarding Starship launch license, space settlement concerns, the risk of procreation in space, R&D essential for space procreation, legal concerns, Space Force strategic vision, protect and expanding life, New Worlds Conference in Austin, The Space Cowboy Ball, prepping for the New Pilgrims

Other great topics for this program included Rick's work with the Space Force, his foundation program to get telescopes into every middle school and why, plus his defining commercial space and NewSpace terms. Before concluding, he talked extensively about the upcoming New Worlds Conference to be held in Austin from Nov. 17-18 featuring the famous Space Cowboy Ball.
