John Batchelor and I welcomed Dr. Anna Ho who recently published an article in Nature Journal about unusual bright objects exploding in space nicknamed the Tasmanian Devil. I suggest you read the article about this report at https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-03569-3. Dr. Ho talked about these very bright short lived flashes, what they might be and why they are only being found at this time. Note the number of telescopes she used to find and confirm what she found. She talked about how fast they were and that to find more they need even faster sky scans and imaging. While the fast flashes, known as LFBOTs, are not fully understood, she hopes finding more of them and the bringing to bear the upcoming Vera Rubin telescope soon to come online in Chile will help. Don't miss the last part of the discussion where John gave her an unlimited budget and asked for her wish list. Let us know what you think about all of this.
