We welcomed Jim Muncy back to the show to discuss why we can't land on the Moon today, history and today, regulations, the Outer Space Treaty articles, safety vs. risk taking, various controlling laws, regulations and national policies impacting space development, investment and the pace moving forward  For your convenience, I urge you to follow the Tags as they fairly represent what we talked about with Jim and in the order discussed.  I have repeated the tags below for your convenience.

Tags:  Jim Muncy, Space Frontier Foundation, Saturn 5 in museums, why we can't land on the Moon, killing the space shuttle, David Gump, Red Whittaker, space entrepreneurial teams, NASA challenges to the Moon, the Big Con, NAVAJO claims to the Moon, Article 9 of the OST, Article 6 of the OST, self-executing treaty provision, regulatory system issues, ultra hazard environment, no safety guarantee, cheaper ways to space, space needs new players, no need for new regulations, commercial space market expansion, FAA and public safety, 2004 Commercial Space Act, repealing the , EIR, National Environmental Policy Act, NASA SSP report, SSP marginalized by report, SSP optional technology, needing inter-departmental cooperation, lunar surface options, Gateway, House Science Committee bipartisan support, HR 6131, Moon is hard, China and the Moon, RFK on space, space and the 2024 presidential election, the New Frontier, horrible administration policy on Article 6 climate issue

As we started the discussion, Jim went back several years in time with The Space Frontier Foundation, pointing out how we went to the Moon, had the Saturn V rocket and today we can't go to the Moon and the rockets are in museums.  That set the tone for the program as our guest took us through regulations, national policies and constraints on entrepreneurism that hurt us today but were not present back in the early days of space development.  Lots of time was spent on risk and safety issues with examples plus issues regarding certain articles of the Outer Space Committed.  Jim spoke freely about these issues so do listen for his commentary  Another discussion point was Jim calling out the need for more inter-departmental cooperation between the FAA, DOC and such.

Michael Listner was an early caller to mention the recent Navajo claim for the Moon as being sacred regarding the Celestis lunar lander plan for burial on the Moon.  Don't miss what both Michael and Jim had to say about the Navajo position on the Moon being part of their sacred religion.  Michael went into some of the issues around Article 9 of the OST which pertained to right to do business in space.  Later in the program, Jim was asked about the recently released NASA report on Space Solar Power which was not very encouraging.  Jim spent time going through some of the issues in the report letting us know where in his opinion the NASA report went wrong.

Please post your comments/questions about these matters or other issues you will hear Jim talk about on our blog for this program.  You can reach Jim Muncy through me here at The Space Show.
