John Batchelor and I welcomed back Doug Messier of the newly launched NewSpace Report to discuss the Elon Musk comments regarding the automatic rocket destruct sequences on Starship demo flight two. Musk said the problem was caused by a lack of payload on board and then proceeded to explain his analysis. Doug did not attempt a simulation or verification of the Musk reasoning. Doug talked about the upcoming demo test three, the desire Starship flight rate for demo and test flights, plus he talked about additional challenges ahead for Starship. The challenges included the transferring of fuel in orbit and the multiple launches needed by Starship to fulfil it mission. This was a one segment Hotel Mars program.
