John Batchelor and I welcomed Dr. Ajay Kothari to introduce thorium and the TMSR (thorium molten salt reactor) to the general Hotel Mars global audience. Dr. Kothari described the many advantages of using thorium, the safety features, the economics, where thorium is found and how it is recovered. He compared thorium to other options for both grid and in-space power. He hit hard on the safety factors of using thorium and explained the isotopes involved and why there are different for fission nuclear energy.
