Robert Zimmerman, an award winning science writer and noted space historian, was the guest on this Space Show program. Mr. Zimmerman started our discussion with the importance of history from Apollo 8 and as recounted in his excellent book, Genesis. We also spoke about the differences in risk taking, adventure, and the importance of freedom from the days of Apollo 8 and our trips to the Moon to our present time. He showed how this change in freedom and the switch in rolls between Russia and the U.S.

USAF Col. (Ret) Rick Searfoss, former pilot NASA astronaut with three space missions, was the guest on The Space Show for Dec. 2, 2003. Col. Searfoss spoke at length about his flying experience in the Air Force and at NASA, the path to take for those that want to be future astronauts, his missions that he flew, astronaut training, politics within NASA, and what would have been involved in they had a mission to return to the Moon.

Dr. Jordin Kare returned to The Space Show to continue his discussion about laser launch alternatives, his recently awarded NIAC Phase 1 Study, and other alternative launch technologies and options. In addition, Dr. Kare, who also writes and sings space themed folk songs, provided six different space songs for use during this program. Thus, Space Show listeners have the added enjoyment of hearing Dr. Kare's space songs on this Space Show. Dr.

Dr. John Brandenburg, a researcher and professor with the Florida Space Institute, was the guest on this Space Show program. Dr. Brandenburg thoroughly discussed the possibilities of bacterial life on Mars, the type of propulsion that will be needed to go to Mars and beyond, the possibility of life in the upper atmosphere of Venus and throughout the solar system, and the use of nuclear power for space exploration.

Sy Liebergot, noted author and retired NASA flight controller for Apollo and post-Apollo years was the guest on The Space Show for this program. Mr. Liebergot discussed his unique experiences growing up which helped him in his position as an Apollo flight controller, especially in emergency conditions such as when he was in the hot seat for the safe return of the Apollo 13 astronauts. Sy takes us inside the mind of an Apollo flight controller as well as the working of NASA during this golden period in its history.

Dr. Roger Launius, Space Historian for the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, was the guest for this edition of The Space Show. Dr. Launius brought an historical perspective The Space Show regarding our space program, especially concerning the manned spaceflight program, launch vehicles, and space access. Building upon this historical perspective, we talked about our present program and needs and what may be ahead for us with our future space program, both public and private. Dr.

Jeff Birks, Space Show listener and founder of Pioneer Radio in the UK, called the show from London during the second half of the program and we had a vibrant discussion about space activities in Europe and in the UK. The first half of this program was devoted to open lines. Mr. Birks also spoke about the importance of space programs for humanity to survive, to become space-faring, and to develop and progress for the benefit of all.

Mike Dinn and John Saxon joined The Space Show from Canberra, Australia as these two gentlemen were part of the Australian communications team that help make possible Apollo era and Skylab communications and television pictures available to us all, from the Moon and from space. Mike and John talked about their experiences, the work they did with NASA, their views on the space programs of today, space programs and education in Australia, the movie "The Dish" and lots more. This is an historical program that documents this important era of a our manned space program.

Tony Webb, the founder of the space lotto for space tourism, was the guest on The Space Show for this program. Mr. Webb discussed in detail his espace lotto program and how it will help space tourism and entrepreneurial suborbital and other space companies. He also explains the legal issues involved both here in the United States and in other countries. We talked about the various prizes available for lottery winners, how to get the media behind the project, especially in Europe where progress with the European Broadcasting Authority was halted as a result of the Columbia accident.
